01Overview
The operator aligns the drum under the nozzle; the system doses to target weight automatically and retracts the nozzle as fill weight is reached, cutting the manual weighing/topping-off step out of the process.
02How it works
Fill-to-weight, not fill-to-volume
A volumetric fill dispenses a fixed volume regardless of what that volume actually weighs — but product density varies with temperature, batch formulation, and viscosity, so a fixed volume of two different batches can weigh noticeably different amounts. Filling to a weight target instead means the system doses until the load cell under the drum reads the target weight, which is accurate regardless of density variation, and is what actually matters when the product is bought and sold by weight.
Coarse and fine feed staging
Dosing at full flow rate all the way to the target weight risks overshooting past the target before the system can react and shut off — flow doesn't stop instantly. A two-stage fill, running at a higher flow rate for the bulk of the fill and switching to a slower, finer flow rate as the target approaches, lets the system land on the target weight accurately without either overshooting or taking unnecessarily long to complete the coarse portion of the fill.
Automatic nozzle dive and retract
The nozzle lowers ('dives') into the drum opening at the start of the fill to control splash and product loss, and automatically retracts once the load cell confirms target weight is reached — removing the operator's need to manually judge fill level or time the nozzle withdrawal, which is both a consistency improvement and a speed improvement over a fully manual fill.

03Manufacturing & build quality
The weighing base is fabricated with compression load cells sized to the drum weight range the system is built for, integrated into a platform stable enough to support a drum through the vibration and flow forces of an active fill without affecting reading accuracy. The nozzle assembly, including its dive/retract actuation and dual-stage flow control valve, is mechanically assembled and tested for consistent, repeatable positioning and flow-rate switching. The complete system — weighing base, nozzle assembly, and control logic tying load cell reading to valve and nozzle actuation — is functionally tested through full fill cycles with a reference load before being calibrated and shipped.

Volumetric overfill and underfill from density variation
A volumetric dosing system fills the same volume regardless of the batch's actual density, which means the same volume setting can produce drums that are measurably over or under target weight as product density shifts.
Manual topping-off slowing the line
Without automatic fill-to-weight control, an operator has to watch each drum and manually adjust or top off toward the target weight — automatic dosing removes that manual step and its associated line slowdown.
